METAPOST: Iwljrwmusm Manifesto

As this blog has garnered more and more interest from music communities across the US and beyond, it seems like a good idea to inform musicians and viewers alike of the principles behind my reviews.  There must be rules, and I must define these rules so that you all know what to expect. As such, I promise that the following principles will apply to all past and future content produced by I will literally just review whatever music you send me:

1. Public Access Anyone can submit their music at any time. Anyone can read this blog at any time.  Class is a plague and public access music review is the antidote.

2. Public Funding I refuse to further any capitalist agenda by enabling ads on this blog.  Soon, a public link for donating to this page will be made available.  The site’s operating costs are zero and the expected donation revenue is zero, so this should all be pretty easy to manage. Any donations will go toward paying writers nominal fees for their work or buying a nice domain name.

3. Universal Lack of Respect for the Artist The music market is over-saturated, repetitive, and bloated. As a musician, you contribute so little that society has agreed that your work is generally not worth paying for. By becoming a musician, you have consciously decided to minimize your social impact. Your vision is likely nonexistent. If you have a vision, it is likely poorly executed. This site owes you nothing; no inherent respect will be paid to you.  No undue compliments awarded, no niceties granted.

4. Universal Lack of Respect for the Guest Reviewers Online journalism is over-saturated, repetitive, and bloated. As a writer, you contribute so little that society has agreed that your work is generally not worth paying for. By becoming a writer, you have consciously decided to minimize your social impact. Your vision is likely nonexistent. If you have a vision, it is likely poorly executed. This site owes you nothing; no inherent respect will be paid to you. No undue compliments awarded, no niceties granted.

5. Celebrity is the Death Of Art Anonymity is the only protection against the multi-millennial, systematic desecration of art. The existence of the artist is a roadblock between art and art consumer.

6. All Reviews are Arbitrary Perception is arbitrary, truth is arbitrary, motion is arbitrary, my current mood is arbitrary. Therefore, all statements made on this site are both arbitrary and worthy of your skepticism.

7. All Reviews are Final I say what I mean and I mean what I said.

8. Detectable Irony is not Irony Utter conformity is the highest level of irony.  To be a complete chameleon is to be perfect.

9. No Revision, No Restraint Editing is the censoring of past selves and is, therefore, an abominable act of historic revisionism. All rules are optional, no distinction will be made between rule following and non-rule following.

10. Open Door Policy I love hearing from musicians! Your input means the world to me. Feel free to send casual emails to the submission email, or to hit me up on twitter (@ceaselessfun)!  After all, we are all in this together.
